Hi there!
My name is Beth Fioritto, and I teach fourth grade reading and writing at Sabin Elementary School. I am so excited to be working with the young people at Sabin! I have a lot of plans for what we will do, and I know my students have big plans for what they'd like to learn and accomplish this year too. Let me tell you a little about myself: I grew up in Mesa, Arizona, where my parents still live. I moved to Chicago in 2008. I am the oldest of two: my younger sister Christy also lives in Chicago. I am married to my wonderful husband Sean. He's a computer programmer and runs his own business. I have a three-year-old son named Isaac, and I love being a mom! It's fun, and crazy, and I've learned a lot. :-) I have a BA in Linguistics and a BFA in Fine Arts from the University of Arizona, and a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Chicago. I became a teacher because I love learning, and I love watching my students learn: it is hands-down the BEST part of teaching. I am passionate about teaching kids to ask great questions, think critically, and be active participants in their own learning. When I'm not teaching or pretending to be a dragon with my son, I love gardening, drawing, and reading. My gardening hobby has led to other weird hobbies like starting a worm farm in my basement and learning all about native plants in Illinois. I love hearing from parents and I love having parents volunteer in the classroom. Please don't hesitate to get in touch, and if you'd like help in our classroom or in the school please let me know—we'd love to have you be a part of our learning this year! All the Best, Beth Fioritto |
